Celebrating Daniel at COTS 2015 by Mike Monaghan

Maureen and Don: 
I'd like to let you know that I'll be thinking of you and Don, and would like to send peace and joy your way as you celebrate Daniel's life at the place he felt most alive and connected.

Though I didn't know Daniel, I feel a certain kinship will all those who seek beauty, solace, and purpose in nature.  I especially feel a connection with those rare individuals who have the courage and conviction to go alone into the wilderness - to connect with the natural world on their own terms. From what I've learned, Daniel was one of these people.

To learn to embrace the beauty, the silence, the timelessness and majesty of the natural world is a gift.  The journey to discover nature, her intricacies and moods, is at its heart a journey of self-discovery.  We are all a part of the great mystery, as are the trees, the birds, the wind and the stars.
