Obituary for Margaret Guckenberger (Schade)

GUCKENBERGER (nee Schade), Margaret:
Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener on Sunday, March 25, 2018 in her 93rd year.
She was born in Sekic, Bacska, Yugoslavia on August 1, 1925 and emigrated to Canada at the age of four with her parents and brother Michael in 1929. She will be dearly remembered by her son Cliff Guckenberger and his wife Lynda, her daughter Donna Croft, and her son Larry Guckenberger and his partner Linda. Loving grandmother of Drew Guckenberger, Lindsay Guckenberger Nguyen and her husband Michael, Jason Guckenberger and his wife Christa and Dan Croft. Great-grandmother of Tyler, Calvin, Aidan, Islah, Carys, Zara and Avery. Also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Michael Schade, her mother Margaret, her brother Michael and in 2006 by her loving husband Barney after 59 years of marriage. She met her husband when both families joined the New Apostolic Church in Kitchener, where she and Barney were also confirmed together. Margaret was a faithful member of the Margaret Avenue congregation for over 75 years where she experienced many wonderful fellowship moments with family and friends. She had a small hair dressing business for a brief time and then worked at Schneider’s Meats for a few years, as well as being a fulltime mother. She was a wonderful example for her family to follow, and will be remembered for her kindness and friendliness to those around her.
Visitation will be at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street in Kitchener on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Corey Lindner at the New Apostolic Church, 160 Margaret Avenue in Kitchener on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 7 p.m.
