Passed away peacefully at Trinity Village Care Centre on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Irene had just celebrated her 100th birthday on March 15th and enjoyed a wonderful get-together with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Pat Kalbfleisch (Jack) and son Richard Hertzberger (Debbie); grandchildren John Kalbleisch (Sharon), Mark Kalbfleisch (Colleen), Kelly Murphy (Mark), Laura Hertzberger (Peter May); great-grandchildren Jessica Kalbfleisch (Jeff MacDonald), Scott and Liana Kalbfleisch, Jacqueline Saucier (Jay), Andrew Murphy (Brianna); great-great grandchildren Julia and Jonas Saucier, Ryley and Cole Murphy. Predeceased by her husband of 69 years Russell W. Hertzberger (Oct. 22, 2005), brothers Herb, Edward and Harry Schaaf and sister Mabel Wamsley. During the past few years at Trinity Village Irene became a budding artist through their OMA (Opening Minds Through Art) program for Seniors with Dementia and produced many beautiful works of art that will be cherished by her family.
Visitation will be held at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467, on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 2:30 p.m - 3:15 p.m followed by a funeral service in the Chapel officiated by Chaplain Eleanor Caruana at 3:30 p.m. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Kitchener. Reception to follow at the funeral home immediately following the burial.
In lieu of flowers donations to Trinity Village Care Centre would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). A special Thank You to the Staff at Trinity Village for the excellent care Irene received especially in her final days.
