MacNiven, Doug:
Passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St Mary's Hospital at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Joyce for over 60 years. Loving Dad to the late Cathy (Stephen Smith), Doug, Lynda, Dave (Yvonne) and Rob. Cherished Grandpa to Stephanie, Kirsten, Taylor, Shannon and Courtney. Brother of the late Mary Grott (late Len), Barbara Liehr (Peter) and the late Frank MacNiven (Ainslie Gray). He will also be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Laura.
Born in Expanse Saskatchewan and raised in Noranda, Quebec, Doug developed a lasting affinity for the North which included spending many summers on Georgian Bay with his family.
Doug was a loyal husband and a kind and generous father. Above all else, he enjoyed family parties and spending time with loved ones.
Doug is loved by his family and friends and his warm and gentle spirit will be deeply missed.
Doug's family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception.
