Passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Columbia Forest Long Term Care, Waterloo, at the age of 85.
Doreen, beloved wife of the late Herbert Stemmler (1994). Loving mother of Faye Walker (Raymond), Wally Stemmler and Rodney Stemmler (Lisa). Cherished grandma of Josh Stemmler (Amy), Erin Stemmler (Jodie), Kaitlin McCracken (Michael), and great-grandma of Kayden. Dear sister of Mary McIntyre of Kitchener, and Betty Riddell of Plattsville, and sister-in-law of Oscar of Brantford, Gordon of Kitchener, Ellwood and his wife Rebecca Stemmler of Hamilton, Esther and her husband Nelson Kurt of Durham and Delford and his wife Germaine Stemmler of Kitchener, Alice Stemmler of Brantford, Maureen Stemmler of Edmonton, Alberta. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Clara May Rose, brothers-in-law Lorne Stemmler, Clayton Stemmler, Melvin Stemmler, Orville Stemmler and sisters-in-law Uneetta Biesinger, Jean Stemmler, Terry Stemmler, Delphina Stemmler and Marcella Detzler. Doreen retired from Sears after 22 years of service. She enjoyed attending the Waterloo Adult Centre where she joined the Wednesday Card Group. She will be fondly remembered by all her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Columbia Forest for the care provided to mom over the past 4 years. Doreen's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. -11:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 where a funeral service will be held in the chapel at 12 noon. Reception to follow. Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington or Columbia Forest-Residence Council would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
