Passed away unexpectedly at Grand River Hospital on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Hedy (Hedwig) for 55 years. Loving father of Bernie (Elke) of Winnipeg and Christine (Brian Mycyk). Proud Opa of Matthew and Stephanie. When Hans was 16 years old, he lost both of his parents on the same day. Dear brother of the late Elisabeth Schattka and Katharina Dohlus. Survived by his sister-in-law Gertrude Nieke as well as by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Hans worked in northern Quebec for 29 years for the Iron Ore Company of Canada.
Hans's family will receive relatives and friends from 10-10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial Service in the Chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to K-W Seniors Day Program or St. Mary's Hospital Foundation - Cardiac Care Unit would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
