Gowing, Laurene E.:
Passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital in her 87th year.
Wife of the late Walter Gowing. Loving mother of Kim (Shirley Ann) Gowing. Cherished grandmother of Kristopher (Elaine) and Chad (Alex). She will also be remembered by her nieces, nephews and friends in Brantford, Listowel, Vancouver and Kitchener. Predceased by her parents, William and Emily Matheson and her siblings Verna, Alvin, Angus, Agnes and Rose.
She was a faithful member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and a dedicated employee of 40 years at Bell Canada. During retirement, Laurene enjoyed swimming, painting and her writing class where she wrote many stories.
Laurene's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. with the Memorial Service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Private cremation has taken place.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice of Waterloo Region or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
A special thank you to the 3rd floor nurses at Freeport, the Hospice of Waterloo Region, Dr. Tan, Dr. Bell and our CCAC nurse Bethany.
