Following her diagnosis of recurring stage four terminal breast cancer three years ago, Cathy did not accept her predicted fate, and foraged her own integrative treatment plan in her struggle against the disease. Above all expectations, her courageous efforts added much valued time and quality of life as she left no stone unturned in her search for an elusive cure. Cathy’s concerted efforts and determination offered enlightenment and hope for many others touched by cancer. After a total of thirteen years since her initial diagnosis, Cathy passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of family on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the age of 64.
Beloved partner of Wayne Tippett.
Loving mother of Natalie Doerr and Christopher Doerr.
Dear sister of Douglas (Hannel), Mark, Larry (Diane) and Karen Atchison (Bruce Archibald). Loved aunt to Wesley and Jordan.
Predeceased by parents Delmar and Ivadel (nee Henderson) Atchison.
Catherine's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener. The funeral service will take place at St. John's United Church, 28 Queen Street, Belwood at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Interment Carmel Cemetery followed by a reception at the church hall.
A special thank you from Cathy's family to the doctors, nurses and caregivers of the GRRCC, Hospice of Waterloo Region (Support Centre) and the Innisfree House for their support and comfort during this difficult time.
