Grobe, Leona:
Passed away peacefully after a longtime struggle with Parkinson's Disease on Sunday, January 1st, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 76.
Beloved wife of 54 years to Peter. Loving mother of Perry (Roni), Pat (Gail) and Gina Grobe.
Cherished grandma of Lyndle, Raquel, Elan, Nate, Dion, and the late Sheldon (2010). Dear sister of Marie Warren.
Predeceased by her parents William and Mary Bauman and her siblings, Urban, Delores, and Anita.
She will be sadly missed by her friends at the Sunnyside Seniors Day Program. The family offers a special thank you to Leona's personal support worker, Tracey Johnson, for her exceptional support for many years to our family.
She was a vital member of the Grobe Nursery and Garden Centre family business in Breslau, and a faithful and longtime member of St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, Kitchener.
Leona's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Prayers will be offered in the funeral home on Thursday January 5, 2017 at 10:30am followed by procession to St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 44 Leonard St., Kitchener, for her Funeral Mass at 11am. A reception will take place following the Funeral Mass in the church hall. Interment at Woodland cemetery at a later date. Private cremation has taken place.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Parkinson's Society of Canada or St. Teresa of Avila RC Church would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
