The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Donald Downie can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Dear Gerri: So sorry to hear of Don's passing (and I regret it was only today, February 9). Lynne and I always enjoyed seeing and being with him. I recall one riotous trip to Quebec City, so long ago. Once in a while one of us would run into him and loved to hear what he was doing and appreciating the twinkle in his eyes.

All best wishes,

Peter

Condolence: It is indeed with deep sadness that I heard of Justice Downie’s passing. The region has lost a great judge who served the bench with boundless dedication, and commitment. I have many fond memories sitting as a court reporter in his court room.
