Ed passed away with his family by his side at University Gates on Monday February 6, 2017 at the age of 85. His battle with Parkinson's has come to an end. He is survived by his wife Rosemary of 45 years, son Ed Jr. (Starr), daughter Heather Bartholomew (James), son Mark (Cindy), sisters Ruth Burns (Tom) and Dorothy Birnstihl. Proud Grandpa to Evan, Kayla, E.J. and Chad. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Luise Kopf, sister Lynnell Dyer, daughter-in-law Carolyn Kopf, brothers-in-law Norman Dyer and Dave Birnstihl and sister-in-law Joan Haid. Past owner of Dominion Sports Distributors. Ed was an avid sports enthusiast having played Sr. Ball, City Basketball, and football at Ryerson, but hockey was his passion. Ed wanted his children to excel and arranged extra ice time for them and other children to improve...and they did. It made him proud. Charter Member of Northside Community Church. He showed his love of God by faithfully praying and reading his bible. His bible was his guide in life. Thanks to all the PSW's that cared for Ed over the years, especially those at University Gates. Ed's family will receive relatives and friends from 3-5 and 7-9 pm on Thursday February 9, 2017 and from 10-10:45 on Friday February 10, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519) 749-8467. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday at 11:00 am with Pastor Vern Trafford officiating. Reception to follow. Interment Williamsburg Cemetery.
