The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Elinor Smyth can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Ted Nasmith
Condolence: I was saddened to hear of Elinor's passing, but am a very distant acquaintance, so wasn't surprised that the news reached me weeks after her funeral. I was a student at Northern Secondary School, and although Elinor wasn't among my teachers, she was an avid lover of visual art, and a supporter of the graphic arts program. She was among the very first people who purchased my work, buying two of my pieces in my graduating year 1972. One was the very first illustration I ever did inspired by my then newly discovered passion for JRR Tolkien's books. It was titled The Unexpected Party, depicting the famous scene with Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, and the Dwarves. Another work she bought was of my now deceased brother Carl, shown on a red sled in winter with our dog Chum. [Unfortunately both works disappeared after Elinor left us.]

Anyway, I wanted to register my great appreciation for Elinor's patronage of a very young, ambitious but shy future illustrator.
