Obituary for Otto Wendland

OTTO WENDLAND
(1936-2017)
Passed away peacefully at KW hospital surrounded by family on Thursday, Feb 23rd at the age of 80 after succumbing to pancreatic cancer.
Born in Karlinkow, Poland of German descent, he is predeceased by his parents Ferdinand and Ottilie (nee Shielke) and sister Edith Hoedl, and survived by his brother Bruno and wife Erika, as well as his sister Erika and husband Siegmar. He was a beloved uncle to four nieces and four nephews, a devotion carried onto the following generation of 19 great-nieces and great-nephews.
With his parents and siblings, Otto immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1954, originally settling in Alberta near Lethbridge. The family relocated to Ontario in 1956, where he assisted his father in farming near Grand Valley. He moved to Streetsville (now Mississauga) with his widowed mother in 1971, with a final relocation to Waterloo shortly after Ottilieā€™s death in 2005.
His family extends an invitation to all who wish to pay their respects at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (519-749-8467) on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 28th beginning at 3:30. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Mike Rattee will be held at the same location from 4:30 to 5:30. Private cremation taken place. The internment at Greenwood Cemetery, Orangeville will take place this coming spring where Otto will be laid to rest close to his parents in accordance with his wishes. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Bible Society would be appreciated by the family.
