Schickler, John (Jack):
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the K-W Campus of the Grand River Hospital at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Joan (nee Schmidt) (2015). Loving dad to Wendy, John (Toni) and Curt (Sherri). Cherished Grandpa to Nick, Jodi (Sam), Teryl (Todd), Tyler (Elysha), David, Alicia (Mitch), Malina.
Great grandpa to Austin, Caleb, Macy, Aubrey, Isabella, and Alexis. Survived by his sister Shirley Westwood, (Mark). Predeceased by his brothers Bill and Lloyd, and son-in-law Dave "Butch" Hewey. Jack retired from Uniroyal after 31 years of work. He enjoyed camping, dog walking and meeting at McDonald's with his friends and enjoyed the summers swimming in his pool with the grandchildren. A special thanks to the staff at Grand River Hospital -ICU for all their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place.
Jack's family will receive relatives and friends from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue again on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 12 noon - 12:45 pm followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 1:00 pm.
Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
