Obituary for Dorothy Schirokanski (King)

Schirokanski, Dorothy (McNeil) (King):
Passed away on Thursday, January 11th, 2018 at Derbeckers Heritage House St. Jacobs at the age of 95 after a lengthy illness. Dorothy was born in Glace Bay, NS on December 18, 1922 to Clara and Patrick King. She moved to Kitchener, Ontario in 1950 with her husband Norman McNeil and son Gary. At the age of 55, she retired from Burns Meats and became a snowbird in St. Petersburg, Florida with her husband Ken Schirokanski. Dorothy is survived and greatly missed by her son Gary McNeil and his wife Janet and granddaughters Sheri-Lee and Teri-Lynn (Patrick) and great-grandchildren Mason and Fiona. She was predeceased by husbands Norman McNeil and Ken Schirokanski (2013), one brother and three sisters. She is survived by three sisters.
Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener, 519-749-8467. As per Dorothy's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Cremation has taken place and her remains will be scattered at Williamsburg Cemetery alongside her husband Ken's remains. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff at Heritage House who made Dorothy's last year peaceful.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
