BENDER, Doreen Marie (nee McLeod, Piper)
1933-01-08 to 2017-03-14
Doreen passed away peaceably in her sleep with her family at her side on March 14, 2017. She is survived by her husband Gary (married 38 years), son James Piper and daughter Deirdre (Frank Pescatore); grandsons Kyle and Dillon, granddaughter Sarah; and her specially loved great-grandson Ethan. Doreen was predeceased by her parents William and Maude McLeod; first husband James B. Piper (1971); brother Charles McLeod, sisters Marguerite Nodwell, Wilda McLean, Ola Chamberlain.
Doreen's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467, on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 1:00 - 2:45 p.m., followed with a Funeral Service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. Mark Lewis officiating. Doreen has been cremated and interment will take place at the Southampton Cemetery at a later date.
The family wish to thank the fantastic nurses and PSW’s who helped care for her over the years, and the dedicated nurses at Grand River Hospital. Your help and support to Doreen and her family will never be forgotten. As expressions of remembrance, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or SickKids Foundation (because of her love to all children) would be appreciated.
