With her family at her side, Elvira passed away peacefully at Innisfree House on Thursday, June 22, 2017 after a short but fierce battle with cancer. She was 80-years-old. Beloved and cherished wife of 60 years to Henry Brattan. Devoted mother of Monica Sims, Mia Brattan (Jerry Reich), and George Brattan (Lynda Allan). Loving grandmother of Kayla Brattan, Aaron Brattan, Cody Brattan, Kai Brattan, and Jessica Sims (Matthew Dick). Predeceased by mother Monica Dosch, father Pius Dosch, and older brother Eugene Dosch.
Elvira was born in Simferopol, Russia, on the coast of the Black Sea, and in 1952 came to Canada with her family after surviving World War II.
Elvira’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Prayer Service to be held at 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at St. Anthony Daniel RC Church (29 Midland Dr. Kitchener). Fr. Allen Varlaki officiating. The Committal Service will take place at Woodland Cemetery following the funeral.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Anthony Daniel RC Church Building Fund, Innisfree House Hospice care, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
