Passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Freeport Hospital at the age of 88. Beloved wife and best friend of Manuel Martins Ferreira. Loving mom to Elisa (Benarus) Leonel and to Orlanda Couto. Cherished Vóvó to Steve, Brian, Mark, Kevin and Jennifer. Survived by her sister Onoria Fonte (Adelino) and brothers Francisco Nunes (Carmelia) and Ernesto Nunes (Laura). Predeceased by sister Livia Pereira and brothers Antonio, José and Alberto Nunes (Vitoria). To the amazing nurses at the Freeport Palliative Unit, thank you for your loving care.

Maria's family will receive relatives and friends from 7- 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church (300 Simeon St. Kitchener) on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery.
