Rood, Robert (Bob):
Passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Trinity Village Care Centre, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Audrey (nee Lederman) for 64 years. Loving father of Robert Lawrence (Judy) of Georgia, and Sandra Gail Goode (John) of Nova Scotia, and Robert Ian (Tracey) of British Columbia. Much loved grandfather of Meaghan Audrey Goode.
At age 16 Bob received his pilot's licence and flew out of Lexington Airport, Waterloo. At 19 he built his own midget race car, which he raced for the next 20 years. He belonged to the Grand Valley Car Club. He was a past Commodore of the Conestoga Sailing Club and donated his Albacor to the Junior Sailing Club. Later in life Bob and Audrey were involved in Ballroom Dancing, and traveled extensively in their RV. They also enjoyed many a game of dominoes with their friends. Bob was a lifetime member of the Transportation Maintenance and Technology Association. He will be fondly remembered by all his family and friends.
Bob's family will receive relatives and friends from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017. Cremation has taken place.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Canada or the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
