Passed away surrounded by the love of her family at Innisfree House following a brief illness on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the age of 54. Beloved wife of Patrick for 29 years. Loving mother of Tim, Lesia, Zachary and Catherine. Dear daughter of David and Mary Makuch and daughter-in-law of the late Stanley and Mary Bandura. Loving sister of Michael (Natalie), Patricia (Yvan), Paul (Therese), Steven (Julie), Christine (John) and sister-in-law of Alan and Julia. Fondly remembered by her nephews Roman, Andrew, William and Kyle and her nieces Kate and Charlotte. Maria was a longtime faithful member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration and the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Canada. She was employed at the Centre for Cooperative Education and Career Action at the University of Waterloo.
Maria's family will receive relatives and friends from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 and Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Panakhyda 7 p.m. Sunday and 9:20 a.m. Monday. Funeral Service at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, 131 Victoria St. S., Kitchener, on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration - Accessibility Fund or Innisfree House would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
