Obituary for Jack Clayton Bartholomew

Jack Clayton Bartholomew
Bartholomew, John (Jack)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jack Bartholomew, who died peacefully, surrounded by his family on November 25, 2017. Jack was cherished by his wife of 49 years, Jean, and his children Bradley (Cristina) Bartholomew, James (Heather) Bartholomew and Melissa (Nathan) Roth. He was the proud Poppa of Evan, Bella & Kayla. Jack is also survived by his sisters Delores (Wayne) Thaler and Shirley Nanson, as well as his brother Bill (Joan) Bartholomew. He will also be greatly missed by his Wilson family “siblings” and his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Doris and Harold Bartholomew, as well as his brother-in-law Bob Nanson and sister-in-law Shirley Bartholomew.
Jack was a dedicated and hardworking employee of both Preston Metal & Roofing Ltd. in Cambridge, as well as Trylon TSF in Elmira. He was an active member of the Pine Meadows Retirement Community in Belwood.
Jack loved to dance and celebrate with friends and family. He loved nothing more than taking Jean for a spin around the dance floor, or the kitchen. Jack’s outgoing personality made him fast friends with everyone he met. Jack was a voracious reader who loved to learn. He was the guy you wanted on your Trivial Pursuit team. Jack was an athlete and lover of all sports, and in his retirement years he became an avid golfer.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, as well as the staff of Intensive Care Unit A at Grand River Hospital, who were so kind and tried so hard. Special thanks to Dr.Stacey Hubay, who encouraged Jack through the tough times, and Pastor Shirley Ruller.
This Christmas Day, please raise a glass of your favourite craft beer or have a slice of birthday cake, to celebrate Jack, on what would have been his 73rd birthday.
Jack's family invites you to join them for a visitation that will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Funeral Service will be held for his private family only. Private cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in an effort to eradicate the disease that broke Dad’s body, but never his spirit (cards available at the funeral home).
