Passed away with his loving family by his side at St. Mary's General Hospital on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the age of 85. Les was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland, on Jan. 25, 1932. He worked as a face cleaner in the iron ore mine until it closed. Les married the love of his life, Shirley Parsons, on November 23, 1956. They left Bell Island in 1962 to make their home in Waterloo. He went to work at Sunar (formerly Sunshine Manufacturing) until he retired. Les loved his cars and dogs...and had many of each over his life. Predeceased by his parents William Charles and Gladys Parsons (nee Warilow). Survived by his brother Arthur (Linda). Predeceased by sisters Margaret and Muriel and brothers Harrison, Clarence, Norman and Revelyn.
Leslie's family will receive relatives and friends from 10-10:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment Parkview Cemetery. Reception to follow at the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation - Cancer Centre or St. Mary's Hospital for Cardiac Care would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
