Condolence: Trudy and I met in 1986 at the Rotary Children's Centre where our sons where having speech therapy. There was an immediate connection and we were soon spending days together playing with our little ones and talking about everything and anything. I was living in a small apartment, had a son newly diagnosed with a significant disability and was far from family. Trudy opened her home and heart to me and my children. I really needed a loving, understanding friend, and Trudy was all that and more. It was a sad parting when I left KW soon after Rebecca and Laura were born, but we kept in touch with periodic phone calls. There were times when I needed Trudy's intelligence, insight and compassion. Trudy walked the walk every single day. The world is a better place because she was here.

Condolence: Years ago I was a summer student at the Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo/Community Information Centre of Waterloo Region. I appreciated working with Trudy. It's an overused description, but Trudy was truly capable of "thinking outside the box." She was unconventional, open minded and at times, eloquent. She wanted solutions, not excuses. She believed in doing better for disadvantaged folks. Those who are struggling with poverty, illness, disability are regularly overlooked, ignored and isolated. Trudy believed we could and should do better for everyone. My sincere condolences to her family. My thoughts are with you as you try to process her passing and find a way to move forward. To Trudy's children, I would like to say your mother loved you fiercely. She will always be with you. All my sympathies. Rest now, Trudy.

"I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love."--Leo Buscaglia

Condolence: Friend, mentor, inspiration. A star in our community and now a star in the heavens. "Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die." ~ Mary Elizabeth Frye (1932, Baltimore)

Condolence: Although we are cousins and separated by 10 years almost to the day--I will miss you. Just last week we had reconnected after a long separation. My heart is thrilled to see from your many friends and colleague--comments about your compassion and advocacy for the less fortunate--as is mine. I so wish we had had more time to network. God bless you, and thank you so much for the bear hug of welcome of family reuniting. Again, I wish we had had more time. You too, just like me, have the heart of our ancestor Chipakijikokwe. You have done your ancestor proud. Rest now my cousin, well done good and faithful servant.
