Obituary for Annie Betty Klassen

Annie Betty Klassen
Klassen, Annie Betty (Rosenfeld)
Annie was born on a family farm near Elizabethtown, PA, on January 29, 1932. When Annie was about 10 years old, she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour, and after moving to Ontario as a teenager, she was baptized in the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church. Subsequently, she attended the Bishop Johnson College of Nursing in Los Angeles, served her practicum at the Good Samaritan Hospital, and graduated as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree from Los Angeles State College in 1955.

She married Nickolas Klassen on December 27, 1960. Initially, the new couple lived in Paris, ON, and then settled in Kitchener, ON. Annie enjoyed teaching many children in Sunday school and Vacation Bible school in the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church, and serving in the kitchen. Her hobbies were baking for the family, gardening and sewing. After Nick died in 1983, relatives and friends provided much needed support. She enjoyed life for many years afterward while living in Eastwood Community. Recently, she relocated to Emmanuel Village to receive additional support in 2015.

She is survived by her two sons: Robert and his wife, Lorraine; and Kenneth and his wife, Laurie. She also very much loved her four grandchildren, Karen, Nicholas, Gregory, and Benjamin. She is survived by her brother, John and wife Mary Lou; and is predeceased by her parents, David and Katherine (Tina) Rosenfeld; her brother, Henry; and her husband, Nickolas Klassen.

Annie's family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com to view Annie's memorial.
