Millen, Earl Thompson:
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Brantford General Hospital in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Helen for 53 years. He will be deeply missed by his children Darren, and Sharon Schmidt (Paul). Proud Papa of Emily, Isabella, Kendra, and Serena. Dear brother of Irene Bishop, Tim (Grace), Kate Castle (Allan), and brother-in-law of Liz Millen, Bob Biro and Claire Millen. Predeceased by his parents William and Harriett and stepfather Ted Wilson, and his siblings Warren, Helen, Hedley, and Biney. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Earl was in the Canadian Army as a Gunner from 1955-1958. Over his lifetime he was a mechanic, truck driver and a successful business owner. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and served on the Board of Church Properties. Born in Nova Scotia, Earl was very proud of his heritage and being raised in the maritmes. The family would like to say thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and PSW's at Cambridge Memorial Hospital-2nd floor, and Brierwood Long Term Care, Brantford for the care and compassion they gave Earl and the family over the past few months. Cremation has taken place.
Earl's family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Ave., Kitchener, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau after the reception.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church - Desboro, or the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
