Condolence: Aileen was our neighbour for 20 years, all during the time our children were growing up. Always thoughtful and kind, she and Bill gave each of our two daughters their first jobs of shoveling snow. I will miss hearing the many stories about her children and grandchildren, and her wry sense of humour.
Thank you, Aileen, for your positive part in our lives.

Condolence: Our sympathies to Tony and Judy, Linda, David, grandchildren, great grandchildren and UK family. I share in your loss and my heart goes out to you at this difficult time. As my godmother, Aunt Aileen has been a special part of my life since birth and we’ve continued to take an active interest in each others’ lives as we’ve gotten older. So much older that it was a running joke for us to put the “Aunt” in quotes in our correspondence. I have too many wonderful memories to count…the family get togethers, the amazing hand me downs and thoughtful cards and gifts, her colourful story telling style, her fricassee chicken and Jamaican fruit cake, her killer dance moves, her idiosyncrasies, like ironing the sheets, her love/hate relationship with Samson and Tali (not sure I got the spelling right), her superstitions, like not putting your purse on the floor, and the list goes on. I will have to see who has her fricassee chicken recipe, but one of my cherished moments was getting her to taste Gilles and my Jamaican fruit cake, which we made using her recipe, and getting the Aileen seal of approval. You always knew what she was thinking and where you stood, good or bad, which was one of her many charms. While I am deeply saddened by her loss and it feels like there is a piece of my heart missing, I take comfort in knowing that she lived a long and full life and is now at peace. Her spirit is sure to live on through the many lives she’s touched and the stories we will continue to tell.
