Obituary for John Barnes
Surrounded by the love of his family, John died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the age of 71.
John was predeceased by his wife Margaret and grandson Benjamin.
He will be remembered by his 6 children and their spouses as well as his 14 grandchildren: Laura Barnes (Jessica and Zachary), Jennifer and Russell White (Charlie, Danny and Abby), Mary Jo and Ben Raslovetzky (Madison and Carter), Sarah Ramon (Nolan, Meghan, and Adam), Joseph (J.R.) and Jennifer Barnes (Sally and Samantha), and David and Jennie Barnes
(Johnny and Claire).
Brother of Mary Anne Barnes, Jim Barnes (Julianna), Teresa Snider, Monica Vallor (Bruce) and Madeline Atkinson (Jack).
Brother-in-law of Jackie Camier (Bill), Helen Plati (Vince), Maurice Plouffe (Eileen) and Marcella Perry and also remembered by his aunts, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was a teacher with the Waterloo District School Board for over 30 years. It was through his strong faith, John served his church and community. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Mary Anne, Jim and Julie Barnes for their love, care and support not only for John, but for his children.
John's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Monday (today) and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Fr. Tim Uniac C.R. will lead Parish Prayers on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Celebration will be held at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 49 Blueridge Ave. Kitchener on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11 a.m., with Fr. Tim Uniac presiding. The reception will follow in the Church Hall immediately after Mass. Private family interment in Williamsburg.
