Condolence: Well this is certainly a shock. We were just getting to know 'Mr. Jack', learning how to tease out his wry sense of humour. He definitely was The Man of a Thousand Songs. Our condolences- from the Thursday Night Rockway Jam folks, to Jack's family and friends, and Anita.

Condolence: Goodbye Mr. Jack

We had our times, good and bad
Some folks thought you were mad
But you played well and knew the words
My eyes and ears turned towards
The sounds you made in your way
And all that you had to say
Of singers past and writers forgotten
You helped us hear and slowly cotton
On to histories of old radio tunes
So many that were gone too soon.
We relied on you to bring them back
And so we thank you, Mr. Jack.

Condolence From: Jack Cole
Condolence: Jack was an important part of our song circle for many of our 22 years, contributing his repertoire of classic songs, his inimitable guitar playing, and his encyclopedic knowledge of a bygone era. Jack also performed at our backyard festival, where he was in his element as an entertainer. Our condolences to Jack's family and close friends. So sorry that he has played his final show. - Jack and Lori Cole

Condolence From: K. Lynn Kirby
Condolence: To Jack's family and friends I offer my condolences on his passing. Jack was an entertaining performer at the Black Walnut Open Stage (formerly the Black Walnut Folk Club) for years where he gave dramatic and often humorous musical performances under his stage name of "Mr. Jack". He played frequently in an open E tuning and used his guitar much like a dobro as he played. Jack also performed at the Brantford Open Stage (BOS) and the Hamilton Folk Club (HFC), in addition to participating in various song circles and musical gatherings, both public and private. He was very knowledgeable about music--especially music of earlier generations (1920s and 1950s) and had some very interesting back stories that introduced many of the songs he sang.
