Passed away peacefully at home in Petersburg, Ontario, surrounded by family on Friday, March 17, 2017 of Cancer at the age of 63. Leslie was born April 27, 1953 in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Beloved wife of Jim Waechter. Dear sister of Susan Brooks (Gary Monahan) of Sussex, NB. and Ralph Brooks (Catherine) of Halifax, NS., nephews Chad and Brock and niece Toby. Predeceased by her mother Florence Brooks (1992) and her father Dr. Ralph Brooks (2013). Also survived by Dr. Brooks second wife, Jane Brooks.
After a 30 year career in the local insurance industry Leslie realized her dream by establishing JL Equestrian Centre where she passed on her love of horses and riding to hundreds of students. Her passion and dedication will have a positive influence for all who knew her for the rest of their lives.
Leslie's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467. A service celebrating her life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in the chapel of the funeral home followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place.
Special thanks all the PSWs, nurses and doctors who provided outstanding care and support during Leslie's illness.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
