Obituary for Anna-Maria Oeser (Kerber)

Anna-Maria Oeser (Kerber)
Oeser, Anna-Maria:
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Anna Maria Oeser (nee Kerber) who died peacefully at home on September 22nd 2017, with her family by her side. Born August 1925, in Heidelberg Germany her life was full of faith, service, gratitude, adventure and most of all caring with love. Anna Maria immigrated to Canada in October 1953 to work as a physiotherapist and assist those suffering from the polio epidemic. It was here in Kitchener Waterloo where she was blessed to find her beloved John Oeser (predeceased) to whom she was married in June 1954. Their union created three children John Peter, Eva Straus (Dan) and Thomas (Laura). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren to whom she will forever be Oma: Danielle Straus (Kevin Stordock) and their children, Rayvenne and Korbin, Anthony Straus (Meaghan) and their children, Oliver and Ava, Jessica Straus (Dylan MacDonald), Tyler Straus (Mehrnoosh) and Katlyn Ziegler. She is predeceased by her brother Gregor Kerber, survived by his wife Anneliese and their children Elisabeth Kerber (Ullrich Mall), Johannes Kerber (Brigitte), Martin Kerber (Daniele), Maria Kerber (Axel) and Clara Kerber.
Anna Maria’s personal philosophy was always that when you give you will receive in the most unexpected ways and that caring is at the centre of every relationship. “How can I help?” was how she started almost all of her relationships. As an accomplished physiotherapist her devotion to healing kept her working well into her eighties. As young parents Anna Maria and John were passionate about travel, packing the kids up in their converted van and driving across the country, to Alaska and even Mexico. Anna Maria never lost her sense of wonder and continued to travel on her own after John passed. She made great friendships around the world, exchanging ideas about faith, history and seeing the great wonders of God’s earth. From Cairo to Sydney, Johannesburg to her beloved Germany, the list goes on and on. It was her immense and devoted faith that guided her through the deepest valleys and greatest mountains that she encountered and survived in her ninety two years. Anna Maria loved to laugh and saw great value in the smallest of moments. She often remarked that with family, all you need is love. We will hear her laughter in our dreams, long for the wisdom of her touch and cherish the love she so generously gave.
Anna Maria's family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. Private family interment at Woodland Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation - Integrated Stroke Unit, Kidney Foundation of Canada, or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home)
