Obituary for Kenneth John Gawthorn
Gawthorn, Kenneth:
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at St Mary's Hospital at the age of 93.
Beloved husband of the late Esther (2003). Loving dad of Ken (Debbie). Grandpa to Jay and Joey (Sheri) and Great-Grandpa to Brooklyn and Nate. He is also survived by his favorite sister-in-law, Dianne Hause.
Ken served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Korean Veterans Association and P.P.C.L.I. Among his medals received, the most special was France's Legion of Honour, the highest national order for his service during WWII. Ken also gave back to the community with countless volunteer hours.
Ken's family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Memorial Service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the funeral home.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
