Precious Friend & Sister-in-the-Lord

Have you ever met someone who you instantly know you love and feel a kinship with that only God could ordain? That is the way it was with Karen and me.

The first time my husband and I attended our annual conference with the ECCIC in 2012, I met Karen. The warmth of her smile, the joy on her face, the love in her hug and the peace in her heart exuded from her beautiful spirit.

Living in the province of British Columbia, I was physically far from Karen but we shared a kinship only sisters-in-the-Lord could. We communicated as often as possible by phone text, text messages on Facebook, or long-distance telephone calls. Each time was a delight for me. We prayed together and shared much with each other.

Karen began offering a place for us to stay whenever we attended clergy conference. It was only in June of 2017 when I traveled to Kitchener-Waterloo alone that I felt able to accept her generous offer. Karen and Delena both opened their home and their hearts and treated me like royalty to the point where I felt I could never repay them. We prayed together and talked in-depth about many things. Such precious ladies! They fed and cared for two pastors and myself the entire time I was there, and it was a precious time of prayer and sharing. As I boarded the plane to return home, my heart broke and I cried many tears of joy over the time spent together and a sense of tremendous loss for leaving my dear friends behind.

I thank God so very much for allowing me the honor and privilege of knowing Karen. She was and is truly a sister-of-my-heart and sister-in-the-Lord and I look forward to seeing her in heaven. I am absolutely confident the Lord has said to her, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

God bless you Delena and Nadeen, and each of Karen’s other family members. I loved Karen very much and I love each of you too. You are in my thoughts and prayers <3
