Obituary for Maria Cuturic (Kratofil)

Maria Cuturic (Kratofil)
Cuturic, Maria
Surrounded by her loving family, Maria died peacefully in her home on Thursday, April 19 at the age of 89 after a brief illness.
Maria was a loving mother and grandmother who gave generously, demonstrated unfailing devotion for her children and grandchildren, and baked thousands of cookies. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Vesna (Tony), Nina (Zdravko), and Visnja (Christopher), and her grandchildren Anthony, Lori, Nicole, and Stefan. Her huge heart, incredible blue eyes, warm and feisty sense of humour, and inspiring selflessness will forever be remembered by her family and close friends. She loved to play cards, sing, and listen to traditional Croatian music with her family in the home that she built with her husband Emil, who predeceased her in 1997. Maria has been a longtime member, former Treasurer, and current honorary member of the Canadian Croatian Seniors’ Club. She was a devout member of the Holy Family Croatian Church, and a woman of strong faith who lived her beliefs. Maria immigrated to Canada with her husband and children in 1967 and worked at Greb Industries as a Quality Control Inspector for 19 years until her retirement in 1987. Maria is survived by two sisters still living in Croatia (Dragica, Branka) and their families, and two sisters-in-law (Lucy and Mara Cuturic), and she will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, both in Canada and Croatia.
A special thank you to Dr. Jonathan Peet for his kind and compassionate care.
Maria’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (holy rosary at 8 p.m.) on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, (519) 749-8467. Prayers will be offered in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. on Monday, April 23, followed by a mass celebrated by Fr. Miro Grubisic at the Holy Family Croatian Parish, 180 Schweitzer Street, Kitchener. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Church Hall.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Holy Family Croatian Church (cards available at the funeral home)
